Dual collaboration for decentralized multi-source domain adaptation Research Article

Yikang WEI, Yahong HAN

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2022, Volume 23, Issue 12,   Pages 1780-1794 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2200284

Abstract: The goal of decentralized is to conduct unsupervised in a scenario. The challenge of is that the source domains and target domain lack cross-domain collaboration during training. On the unlabeled target domain, the target model needs to transfer supervision knowledge with the collaboration of source models, while the domain gap will lead to limited adaptation performance from source models. On the labeled source domain, the source model tends to overfit its domain data in the scenario, which leads to the problem. For these challenges, we propose dual collaboration for decentralized by training and aggregating the local source models and local target model in collaboration with each other. On the target domain, we train the local target model by distilling supervision knowledge and fully using the unlabeled target domain data to alleviate the problem with the collaboration of local source models. On the source domain, we regularize the local source models in collaboration with the local target model to overcome the problem. This forms a dual collaboration between the decentralized source domains and target domain, which improves the domain adaptation performance under the scenario. Extensive experiments indicate that our method outperforms the state-of-the-art methods by a large margin on standard datasets.

Energy shift: decline of easy oil and restructuring of geo-politics

Oliver R. INDERWILDI,David A. KING

Frontiers in Energy 2016, Volume 10, Issue 3,   Pages 260-267 doi: 10.1007/s11708-016-0416-8

Abstract: This paper critically assesses the geopolitical and geo-economic impact of novel fuel resources on both resource exporters and importers. Presently, very strong political and economic forces drive the utilisation of domestic, unconventional oil and gas recovery in the West as these enhance energy security and ease balance of payment issues. The additional capacity generated by this trend has, supported by other effects such as Saudi Arabia’s decision to maintain current production, triggered a significant reduction of oil prices. Consequently, it is now oil exporters that struggle with the balance of payment issues and often these countries base their fiscal budget completely on fossil fuel revenues. In fact, these unconventional resources help turn the tide while oil exporters are now politically significantly weakened due to the increased energy sufficiency of the West. The catch is that the extraction of unconventional types of oil has many environmental implications. So, internalising the environmental externalities have to be considered. This paper, therefore, assesses, next to geopolitics and geo-economics, the environmental implications of this trend.

The vector form of the state transition matrix is introduced, by which a necessary and sufficient condition is proposed, as well as an algorithm for determining the of general . Moreover, a new matrix is defined, which can derive a matrix method with lower computation complexity. Furthermore, the of two special types of , a full-length Galois NFSR and a nonsingular Galois NFSR, is investigated. Two methods are proposed to determine the of these two special types of NFSRs, and some numerical examples are provided to support these results.

Dynamic analysis of rail transit elevated bridge with ladder track

He XIA, Yushu DENG, Yongwei ZOU, Guido DE ROECK, Geert DEGRANDE

Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering 2009, Volume 3, Issue 1,   Pages 2-8 doi: 10.1007/s11709-009-0001-x

Abstract: In this paper, a dynamic analysis model of an elevated bridge with ladder tracks under moving train load is established. The whole process of a train running through an elevated bridge at different speeds is simulated. The dynamic responses of the elevated bridge with ladder track and the running safety and comfort index of train vehicles are evaluated. Compared with the dynamic responses of an elevated bridge with ordinary non-ballasted slab track, the ladder track’s effect on reducing the vibration of an elevated bridge is analyzed. The analysis results show that the ladder track has good vibration reduction characteristics as compared to ordinary non-ballasted track.
